5 Signs Your Website Is Costing You Customers

If you built your own website, or it's been sitting untouched for a year or two, it might be doing more harm than good. Here are five signs worth checking today.
1. It doesn't say what you actually do, fast enough
Visitors decide whether to stay within a few seconds. If your homepage doesn't say who you help, what you do and where you do it, they're gone, usually back to Google and on to a competitor.
Quick check: open your homepage on your phone. Without scrolling, could a stranger tell what you sell and which area you cover?
2. It's not properly mobile-friendly
Most people looking for a local business are on their phone. If they have to pinch and zoom to read your prices or hunt for a tiny "Call" button, you're losing enquiries you never even hear about.
3. Nobody can find it on Google
A nice-looking site is no use if it doesn't show up when someone searches for what you do. The basics get missed all the time: page titles, mentioning your town, and a complete Google Business Profile.
4. There's no clear next step
Visitors land on your site and then... what? If there's no obvious "Book", "Call" or "Get a quote" button, you're relying on people to work out what to do next. Most won't bother.
5. It hasn't changed in a year
Old prices, old services, an out-of-date copyright year in the footer. They're small things, but they quietly tell visitors nobody's minding the shop.
The fix doesn't have to be a full rebuild
Most of the time it's a handful of practical changes in the right order. If you want a second pair of eyes, try the free SEO Snapshot tool, or book a free discovery call and I'll tell you honestly what I'd change first.
